Hey, friends! I can’t believe this is the last week of our Proverbs 31 Character Study! Wow, time has flown! This week we are talking about LIVING OUT all of the wonderful character qualities that we have learned through this study. Thank you so much for joining me. I had such a blast studying God’s word with you! 🙂
The core of the Proverbs 31 Study is character: we have learned about being trustworthy, hard workers, money smart, well prepared, generous, placing our identity in Christ, having confidence, wisdom, being recognizably different and inner beauty. All of these character qualities are amazing and essential for us to truly stand up for Christ and be different, but if we don’t apply them to our lives, it’s just knowledge. Our goal now is to LIVE OUT all that we have learned!

casper dating “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”
It’s great to study the Bible, but if we don’t apply it, to our lives it’s just knowledge. It reaches our hearts when we become doers of the Word. When we put our faith in action, that’s when life change happens and that’s when we are able to make a difference in God’s kingdom.
If all we are doing is listening to the Word but not applying it to our lives, we will be the person who stares at himself in the mirror and then forgets what he looks like. That’s just crazy! That’s like taking a selfie, posting it to Instagram and then forgetting what you look like.
We want to study the Word of God intently so that we can then apply it to our lives and persevere. Following Christ and striving to have Proverbs 31 character is not always going to be easy, but it’s so worth it.
Walking with God is a choice that we make every single day. It’s not always an easy choice; it takes commitment, and it takes faith. Sometimes, we will walk alone. For example, we learned last week that Esther didn’t have anyone to go with her as she approached the king. She had people praying for her, but she had to stand up to the king alone. Esther didn’t grow weary in doing good. She kept the faith.
No matter what is happening in your life today or no matter what will happen in the future if we stay committed to doing good and if we persevere we will reap a harvest. But we cannot give up; we have to keep pursuing God and putting Him first.
So the question for all of us is where can I improve today? Do I need to improve on being more trustworthy or placing my confidence in God? Or maybe it’s a matter of having our identity in Jesus and in Jesus alone. My challenge to all of us is to write down one character quality we want to work on this month and start praying that God would give us strength to be more like his son every single day. (Try picking a new character quality every month.) We are never going to be perfect, but we have an opportunity to shine our light for Christ. It’s important that we are making the most of our opportunities!
That’s our goal to shine as lights in the world for Christ. But how are we going to do it? By holding fast to the Bible, by studying it but also by applying it. So let’s apply God’s word to our lives and let’s be doers of the Word and not just hearers.
Thank you so much for studying Proverb 31:10-31 with me! It has been a true blessing every single week for the past 12 weeks, and I enjoyed it so much. I hope y’all have an amazing day and God Bless.
What character quality are you going to work on this month?
How can you persevere and continue applying God’s word to your life?
One way that we can persevere is to have accountability from other believers. Who are those people for you?
